Low pressure slowly departing – snow gradually ending later this evening

Low pressure will be tracking east out of Illinois into central Indiana this evening. Heaviest snowfall with this departing storm system appears to be in the 4 to 5-inch range in areas around the outer fringe of the Chicago area west and south with generally 1 to 2 inches in the city and more immediate surroundings. While heavier snow will be moving off to the east with the departing low center, the backside east to northeast component of winds off Lake Michigan  will probably enable light snow to persist in the Chicago area longer into the evening/nighttime hours – gradually diminishing and ending from west to east.
