Its official- City logs its first white Christmas since 2010 as “11th hour” snowfall hits the city

It took until late evening but Chicago finally logged its first white Christmas since 2010 when a band of snow swept the area dropping 1 to 3 inches of during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Both O’Hare and Midway airports reported 1 inch of snow on the ground at 9pm, fulfilling the white Christmas criteria.

Snow continues to fall across the Chicago area but should be tapering off in the next hour or two.

Elburn in Kane County has received nearly 3 inches of snow so far this evening while more than two inches has fall in Lake County at Beach Park and Wadsworth.
