Have the Cubs ever played a game at Wrigley Field in the snow?
-- Anita Meyer, Chicago?
Wrigley Field can be a very cold venue during the early part of the season, and while the Cubs have had several games postponed by snow, only flurries or light snow have occurred during a game.
In 2003, the April 7 home opener was postponed when Wrigley Field was covered by 3 inches of snow.
After plows removed snow from the outfield the Cubs defeated Montreal 6-1 the next day with temperatures near freezing and the wind chill hovering near 20.
On April 16, 1961, a late-season snowstorm socked the city with nearly 7 inches of snow, canceling the game against the Milwaukee Braves. Snow Flurries also fell during the 1906 Cubs-White Sox World Series during two games played at the West Side Park southwest of the Loop on Oct. 9 and 11.
