Snow has been falling at a fast and furious pace across north and west portions of the Chicago area with totals already as high as 8 inches in northeast Lake County at Beach Park. Totals so far across the Chicago Metro area range from 4 to 8 inches north and west to just an inch or two from the south side of Chicago into the southern and indiana surburbs.
The center of the low pressure system responsible for today's snow has just passed into Indiana jsut to the north of Terre Haute and will continue norrtheast overnight headed for the lower Great Lakes. As the storms continues to the northeast, snow will continue across the Chicago area with additional accumulations. While the intensity will slowly decrease to more of a light snow, falling temperatures will ensure more accumulations. By the time the snows finally end on Thursday, final snowfall totals should range from as much as 10-12 inches far north to about 4 inches in south and east sections.
