A blinding snowstorm hit the Kansas City area on Thursday bringing 9-13 inches of snow to the area in a period of less than 4 hours. The intense snowfall, accompanied at time by thunder and lightning fell at the rate of 3 inches an hour, paralyzing the city.

Here are a couple of pictures provided by NWS forecaster Mike McCoy who has lived in Kansas City for 19 year and stated that this was the worst snowstorm that he had seen there. Mike worked for the National Weather Service in Chicago at the O'Hare office, earlier in his career.
