Heaviest snow moving out; Full storm coverage on the WGN Severe Weather Blog

 

9:00AM:  While the heaviest snow is long gone, light snow and perhaps some freezing drizzle is expected to return today.  For the latest on this as well as a comprehensive list of snowfall totals, head over the WGN Severe Weather Blog.

3:30AM:  At 3:30AM, radar indicates that the heaviest band of snow has now shifted north and east of  the city stretching from Waukegan to Michigan City, Indiana.

Early accumulation estimates over the Chicago area range from two to five inches of snow on the ground at 3:30AM.  In the wake of heavy snow band, light snow or freezing drizzle is expected with additional accumulation of  one inch or less.

 

Most area roads and highways are still snow covered and slippery.
