The National Weather Service has posted a Winter Weather Advisory for Thursday night and Friday that includes most of the Chicago area.

Snow should begin to fall between 8PM and 1AM Thursday night.  On Friday, the snow will eventually change over to freezing drizzle or a mix of snow and freezing drizzle.   Snowfall accumulation between 2" and 5" is expected.

Chicago area counties included in the advisory are: Cook, Du Page, Lake(IL), McHenry, Boone, Kane, De Kalb, Kendall, Grundy, Will, LaSalle, Kankakee, Lake(IN) and Porter.

A storm system centered over western Arizona this afternoon will move to Burlington, Iowa by Friday morning.  This system will weaken as it approaches the Midwest and Chicago, resulting in much lighter snowfall totals here than the nearly one foot of snow expected over portions of Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas.
