Lake effect snow is expected to intensify later today and tonight downwind of Lake Michigan. One half inch to two inches of snow is possible through 5PM across sections of southwest Michigan as well as north central Indiana. The heaviest accumulation today is expected to occur over the northern half of Berrien County.
Tonight, an additional one to three inches of snow is expected across the Michiana snow belt. Locally heavier totals up to five inches are possible as convergence increases over Lake Michigan, leading to pockets of very heavy snow squalls.
A Lake Effect Snow Advisory is in effect for La Porte and St. Joseph counties in Indiana through tonight. A Lake Effect Snow Warning is in effect for Berrien County through Sunday morning. The heaviest snow squalls will develop after sunset this evening.
The rest of the Chicago area can expect clouds and a few snow showers later today after a sunny start. Any accumulation in northeast Illinois will be minor, under one-half an inch.
