While New Englanders dig out from a crippling blizzard, another storm system over the nation's heartland is forecast to spread a variety of inclement weather from the Plains, across the Great lakes. On Sunday, blizzard conditions, with snowfalls of a foot or more are expected to extend from the Dakotas, across much of Minnesota. Rain and t-storms will spread from the southern plains, into the Chicago area. Temps across portions of northern Illinois may be below freezing as the rain moves in Sunday morning. This could cause glazing on area roadways, especially heading toward southern Wisconsin, where a freezing rain advisory is in effect for Sunday morning. Rainfall totals in excess of a half inch can be expected by Sunday evening. The rain, combined with snow melt over frozen ground may result in ponding of water.
