Winter storm warnings issued for Lake and McHenry counties though early tonight for 4 to 8 inches of snow

Freezing rain and sleet has changed to heavy wet snow in areas just south of the Wisconsin state line. Up to 2 inches have already come down and accumulations may total as much as 8 inches before the snow winds down by midnight. Areas to the south from Cook County west through the I-88 corridor are under a winter weather advisory with rain changing to snow and accumulation of 2 to 5 inches expected by tonight.
