1PM update:

The west-east  leading edge of the snow band has moved into the northern portion of Ogle - DeKalb - Kane - and Cook Counties.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At noon snow was accumulating across southern Wisconsin and spreading into northern Illinois along the state line. At 11:30PM McHenry reported ½ inch of new snow and adding up fast – Beach Park in Lake County had picked up nearly an inch of new snow (0.8 inch) at the same time. Waukegan reported snow at the noon observation.

So it looks like the cold air aloft is spreading into northeast Illinois ahead of the low pressure system – which means a faster change-over from rain to snow can be anticipated and perhaps more total snowfall than the presently forecast 2 to 4 inches.

If you have to be outdoors traveling this afternoon, beware of slowly deteriorating conditions. From the north – rain will be changing over to wet accumulating snow.
