Snow band racing through the area

UPDATE:3:02 pm

Snow has ended at Midway Airport where total snowfall totaled 0.7 inches.

At O’Hare International Airport snowfall has totaled 0.5 inches through 3pm.

Latest radar trends at 2:30 pm shot the band of moderate to heavy snow racing across the Chicago area. The heaviest snow was along a line from near Evanston southwest to Joliet and heading northwest Indiana. The band is accompanied by a burst of heavy snow that drops the visibility to 1/4 to 1/2 miles and bring about 1 inch of snow in less than an hour. Rapidly improving conditions can be expected after the band passes through. At  its current rate of speed, the snow should clear most of the Chicago Metro area by about 4pm.

At Midway Airport observer Frank Wachowski reports that the snow band dropped 0.5 inch of snow in 20 minutes between 2:10-2:30 pm with the snow still coming down.
