Latest radar trends at 2:30 pm shot the band of moderate to heavy snow racing across the Chicago area. The heaviest snow was along a line from near Evanston southwest to Joliet and heading northwest Indiana. The band is accompanied by a burst of heavy snow that drops the visibility to 1/4 to 1/2 miles and bring about 1 inch of snow in less than an hour. Rapidly improving conditions can be expected after the band passes through. At its current rate of speed, the snow should clear most of the Chicago Metro area by about 4pm.
