The Chicago area's snow-starved winter is about to pick up steam. A series of fast-moving weather systems will pass through the area in coming days, each expected to bring some snow. While a major snowstorm is not in the offing, the snowfall combined with limited melting will likely bring several inches of snow to the city. As much as 3 inches of snow could cover parts of the Chicago area by Saturday morning with another inch or two possible by Monday. More snow is expected to return Tuesday followed by additional snow Thursday that could mix with sleet.
Somewhat milder temperatures are expected with the increasingly snowy weather. Afternoon readings are expected to climb into the 20s this weekend and reach the lower and middle 30s next week.
