4:30PM: The Chicago National Weather Service Forecast Office has added Kane, LaSalle, and Kendall Counties to the list of northeastern Illinois counties under a Wind Chill Advisory from Midnight tonight until 10AM CST Friday morning. With Arctic air overhead and west to northwest winds gusting as high as 30 miles per hour at times, wind chills of -15 to -25 degrees can be expected in the light blue-shaded counties shown on the map below. This includes a good portion of northern and central Illinois, western Lower Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa. As noted on the earlier issuance, portions of North and South Dakota and Minnesota (shaded a darker blue-grey) may experience wind chills -35 to -45 degrees.
Closer in to Chicago will not be a lot different - clouds may inhibit values somewhat, but by early Friday morning wind chills in the city of Chicago and nearby suburbs not actually under the Wind Chill Advisory, still could experience occasional wind chills of -5 to -15 degrees or even a little colder.
