Wet weather gear will be mandatory across the Chicago area later this afternoon and tonight. Numerous waves of showers and thunderstorms are expected in the next 24 hours dumping anywhere from one to three inches of rain.
A Flood Watch remains in effect for the entire Metro region through Thursday morning. With soils below the surface still frozen in many areas, excessive runoff will lead to a great deal of ponding water.
