The Chicago National Weather Service Office has issued a Wind Advisory from 7PM this evening until 3AM Sunday morning - generally for the area along and north of Interstate-80 in northeast Illinois and extreme northwest Indiana.
A strong cold front will move southeast out of Wisconsin passing through the Chicago area this evening. Ahead of the cold front southwest winds gusting as high as 30 miles per hour have boosted afternoon temperatures into the mid to upper 40s. However as the cold front moves through, this evening winds will gradually shift to west and then northwest and strengthen. Wind gusts later this evening will peak at 45 to 50 miles per hour. Temperatures will slowly fall after sundown and then as the colder air flows into this area, temperatures will rapidly fall through the 30s into the 20s by midnight. Readings will continue to fall through the teens, with single-digit values to the north closer to the Wisconsin state line. The combination of strong winds and falling temperatures will result in near zero or sub-zero wind chills Sunday morning.
