This season's mild winter has hampered ice-rescue training sessions for  Coast Guard Station Wilmette. Ice-free Lake Michigan has forced the ice-rescue training t0 be held on local ponds. Chief Petty Officer Alan Haraf hopes that the arrival of the season's first real cold wave will bring enough ice to allow the training to be held on its usual Lake Michigan location.
