A band of lake-effect snow showers has moved onshore in east portions of the Chicago Metro area this afternoon no t only bringing some holiday atmosphere but also some slick driving conditions. Latest radar trends indicate that the band has weakened but it may intensify later this evening.

Some area snow reports include:

WGN Studios near Addison and Western  1/2 inch

Northbrook 0.9 inches

Morton Grove 0.5 inch

Rogers Park 1.0 inch

Only traces of snow have been reported at both Midway and O'Hare International Airports so at least on the official books, the city's snow drought continues.
