Rain and snow that fell over the Chicago area Friday night is winding down early this morning as weak storm system quickly exits the Midwest.

While most of the precipitation fell in the form of rain in the city and southern suburbs, some minor snow accumulation has been reported over a few northern and northwestern suburbs.  The snowcover won't last long, as temperatures rise into the lower 40s this afternoon.  North of Chicago, one to two inches of accumulation occurred across portions of central Wisconsin and Michigan.

A few lake effect rain showers are possible Saturday afternoon and evening.  These rain showers will be mainly confined to Cook and Lake counties in Illinois.  Dry conditions are expected for the rest of the region until a second storm system developing over the northern Plains moves in late tonight and Sunday.
