Despite accumulating wet snow falling over northern and central portions of the area in the morning ---mostly rain is expected in southern portions of the metro area --- temperatures are forecast to reach the 40-degree mark during the afternoon with snow changing over to rain before ending. Chicago's normal high temperature is 37 degrees, so this should mark the eighth straight day and the 17th out of 21 days this month with above normal temperatures. This latest string of warmer-than-normal days is expected to reach ten with readings climbing well into the 40s under rainy skies Thursday just ahead of a strong cold front. A large cold high pressure air mass is to bring more winter-like readings as it spreads over the Midwest and Great Lakes this coming Friday and Saturday.
