In what has been a December noticeably devoid of winter weather, Friday's daytime readings in the 20s and wind chills in the teens may have seemed abnormal. Chicagoans will not need to become acclimated to the wintry temperatures however, at least not yet. Gusty southwest winds developing late Saturday will signal the return of above-normal temperatures, and no snowfall is expected through the upcoming week. Winds will remain elevated through Saturday night, preventing overnight lows from being anywhere near as cold as the single-digit readings and teens expected Saturday morning. The return to above-normal temperatures is expected to continue through much of the upcoming week, peaking on Thursday as a storm system expected to pass west of the area brings a surge of unseasonably mild air.
