By mid-afternoon the weak cold front extended from eastern Lake Superior south through southeast Wisconsin between Milwaukee and Madison , west of Rockford through western Illinois into eastern Missouri. The front was slowly moving east with the sun breaking through altocumulus clouds over northeastern Illinois, southeastern Wisconsin and northwest Indiana. By 3PM CDT temperatures were for the most part in the lower to middle 80s with southwest winds 8 to 15 mph around the Chicago area.
Widely scattered showers and possibly a few thunderstorms may still develop late this afternoon and during the evening hours, as the front makes its way east through the Chicago Metro area into northwest Indiana.
