This morning a slow-moving cold front was located from eastern Lake Superior through northwestern Wisconsin into eastern Iowa and central Missouri. A band of scattered showers with a few imbedded thunderstorms ran from Lake Michigan east of Green Bay through Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin into northwest Illinois. Isolated showers had also popped up over north-central Illinois.
The front is expected to move east - passing through the Chicago area later this afternoon and evening preceded by extensive cloudiness and scattered showers and thunderstorms - the coverage of which should increase over this area mid-afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will end as the front moves east of a given location.
