In addition, the intersection of Delany and Sunset has been closed due to high water. A Flash Flood Warning continues until 2PM for the northern half of Lake County. UPDATE 10:30AM: Flash Flood Warning continues for northern Lake (IL) County.

Many roads across northern Lake County are flooded. Travel in this area is not advised until the water recedes. As of 10:30AM, the heaviest storms have moved east of Lake County and over Lake Michigan. Conditions will improve this afternoon as drier weather is expected to prevail through 6PM.

UPDATE 10:18AM: A FLASH FLOOD WARNING has been issued until 2PM for northern Lake County Illinois along and north of Hwy 120. Radar estimates 3" to 4" of rain has fallen since 7AM

UPDATE 10:06AM: The torrential downpours are back. The WGN Weather Center just received a report of 3.39" of rain over the last 3 hours (7AM-10AM) in Wadsworth, IL. Two inches of that fell in just 20 minutes.

UPDATE 8:59AM: Another cluster of strong thunderstorms is roaming some of Chicago's north and northwest suburbs at 9AM. These storms are producing very heavy rain as well as frequent to near continuous lightning. These storms are not considered severe (damaging winds/hail or tornado), and there are no warnings or watches in effect at this time.
Torrential downpours with near blinding rain are likely with some of the stronger cells. Northern McHenry County has been the hardest hit with radar estimates of up to 2 inches of rainfall since 6AM.

7:59AM: A strong thunderstorm is straddling the Illinois-Wisconsin border at 8AM this morning producing brief heavy downpours as well as a good deal of lightning. This storm is expected to impact the northern half of McHenry and Lake Counties through 9AM.
The storm dumped 0.80" of rain in Harvard, IL where a non severe wind gust of 29mph was clocked.
